According to the post on Nokia Conversations, although Nokia N900 devices are being used for platform development and testing for MeeGo project, there are no plans for a full scale commercial MeeGo upgrade on the Nokia N900. I think that’s a good approach, in order to keep User Experience focused on one platform that’s tailor made for a device. Though I am sure there will be many ways for enthusiasts to try MeeGo on Nokia N900.
Nokia realises this news may be a disappointment for some, rest assured that Nokia will continue to support the core Maemo software on your Nokia N900, as evidenced by the Firmware 1.2 (V10.2010.19-1) update available today.

I am on an E71-2 now and I just read that Nokia has only sold 100000 N900′s. A real specialty item I think but that leaves to question all of the app developers like fring for example, that may stay away from this platform because of the low numbers. With the mee go platform not out yet, and the maemo5 being discontinued, what would encourage a healthy maemo5 app store over the coming year? Makes me think I should wait a year to see if the apps I already use will show up on maemo select. So far they haven’t [total recall and fring].
hi hhassan30, just read ur comments. i can’t agree with u any more. u r pointing a sad truth. but i am still trying to do sth for n900 app. i just want some app i need on my n900 as no one else does for me. so i have to count on myself. sometimes i still consider nokia a cool company. but please dun make us down any more, nokia! (sending from my n900)
Well I see N900 more as an experiment than a real life phone. It’s great for geeks, but It’s too big, carries a poor touchscreen(compared to iPhone or htc hd2), very bad battery and has an “original” interface that doesn’t use the gyroscope as it should(well actually it doesn’t use it almost at all) which could be a bit unattractive to the masses. I still love it though, it’ s the perfect mobile phone for a geek, so if you want an app you’ ve got to do it by yourself
i believe the n900 is the best phone ever in street… i tried the all the iphone, and sprint phone and virizon.. to be honest with you guy..n900 have it all… you just have to know what to do… . what phone using two system beside the n900……………..lunix. and micro.wind. nokia have much to offere……….all i could say in the end…. THANKYOU NOKIA FOR COMING UP WITH THE N900
